TaxWahala.com does not collect, store, or receive your personal financial data. There is no account system, no database of salaries, and no server doing your math. Every calculation on this site runs inside your own browser, on your own device.

What happens to the numbers you type?

They stay in your browser's memory while you use the page, and disappear when you close the tab. They are never transmitted to us — we have nothing to transmit them to.

What we store on your device (and only your device)

• Your preferences — language (English/Pidgin), dark mode, and your compliance-checklist ticks are saved in your browser's local storage so the site remembers them next time. You can clear these anytime in your browser settings.

Cookies & analytics

The calculator works fully without cookies. If basic, anonymous visit analytics are ever enabled, they will never include the financial figures you enter — those never leave your device by design.

The payslip scanner

The "scan your payslip" feature reads your photo entirely on your device using an open-source OCR library (Tesseract). Your payslip image is never uploaded anywhere. The library file itself is downloaded once from a public CDN (jsDelivr) — that download contains no information about you beyond the ordinary web request.

The exchange-rate helper

If you tap the rate box in the freelance calculator, we fetch the day's indicative exchange rates from a public rates API. That request carries no personal or financial data — it just asks "what are today's rates?" — and the answer is cached on your device. You can ignore it entirely and type your own rate.

Third parties

Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which may see your IP address as part of serving the font files — the same as any website using web fonts. No financial data is involved.
